Automotive Paint, Refinishing & Polishing in Maple Ridge, BC

Refinishing and finishing for classic vehicles, restorations, hot rods, restomods and specialty vehicles, from a single repaired panel to a complete respray and the polishing work that follows it.

What this work involves

Refinishing is the visible result of everything that came before it. Preparation, panel work and sealing decide how the paint lays down and how it holds up, so the paint stage is planned alongside the body stage rather than treated as a separate job at the end.

Work includes complete refinishing, individual panel refinishing, repair refinishing after collision or bodywork, restoration paintwork, custom project paintwork, clear coat application and final finishing.

Colour direction is discussed with you. Some owners want the original factory colour matched as closely as possible. Others are building something personal and want a custom mix. Both are workable, and both change how the job is approached.

Fresh paint, even applied well, carries some texture. Colour sanding levels that texture with very fine abrasives, then polishing through progressively finer compounds removes the sanding marks and brings up the gloss. The same process is used as paint correction on a finish that is otherwise sound, addressing swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation, haze and buffer trails without repainting.

Sanding and polishing remove a small amount of material, so they are only carried out where the finish can support it. Deep scratches that have gone through the finish need refinishing instead. We assess the vehicle first and tell you honestly what is realistic.

How the work is carried out

  1. 01PreparationSurfaces are cleaned, sanded, sealed and prepared, and areas that should not be painted are removed or masked.
  2. 02ColourColour is matched or mixed for the vehicle, and test work is used where a match needs to be confirmed.
  3. 03ApplicationBase and clear coats are applied in a controlled sequence suited to the products and the vehicle.
  4. 04Curing and inspectionThe finish is cured and inspected, and paint thickness is checked before any sanding or correction is carried out.
  5. 05Colour sanding and polishingA test section establishes the least aggressive approach, then fine abrasives level texture and progressively finer compounds refine the surface to an even gloss.
  6. 06Final inspectionThe finished surface is inspected under light, then trim and removed parts are reassembled.
