What this work involves
Hot rods and restomods rarely follow factory specifications. Panels may have been changed, shaved, sectioned or swapped between vehicles. Body mounts, gaps and mounting points may have been altered along the way, and modern drivetrains or suspension often change what the body has to work around.
That means the body work has to be figured out on the car rather than looked up. Fitment, gaps and panel relationships are worked through physically, and modifications are carried out so that the finished result looks intentional instead of adapted.
Whether the build is period correct, restomod styled or something entirely personal, the work is carried out to match the direction of the build and the standard the rest of the vehicle is being held to.
