Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about classic vehicle work, estimates and how projects are handled.
- What kinds of vehicles do you work on?
- Classic cars, muscle cars, collector vehicles, hot rods, restomods, older trucks, modified classics and other specialty vehicles. The shop is set up for vehicles that need assessment and fabrication rather than a standard production repair process.
- Do you take on small jobs, or only full restorations?
- Both. Some vehicles come in for one repaired panel, a rust repair or a single refinished area. Others are longer term projects. The scope is decided around the vehicle and what you want out of it.
- How do I get an estimate?
- Use the estimate request form on this site. It covers your contact details, the vehicle year, make and model, the type of work, a description of the project or damage, whether it relates to an ICBC claim, and photographs of the areas involved. Photographs make a significant difference to how useful the first response can be.
- Why can you not give a firm price straight away?
- On older vehicles what is visible is rarely the whole picture. Filler, previous repairs and hidden rust turn up regularly once an area is opened up. A realistic estimate depends on seeing the vehicle, and if the scope changes during the work we discuss it with you before continuing.
- Do you handle ICBC claims?
- ICBC approved repair work is available for eligible classic and specialty vehicles. Whether a particular vehicle and claim qualify depends on the circumstances, so contact the shop to discuss your vehicle and claim.
- Can you repair rust, or does the panel have to be replaced?
- Both approaches are used. Rust is cut back to sound metal and repaired with shaped patch panels or fabricated sections where the surrounding metal supports it. Where the panel is too far gone, factory or replacement panels are fitted and adjusted so the body lines and gaps line up.
- Can you match my existing paint?
- In many cases yes. Colour matching depends on the age and condition of the existing finish, whether it is original or a previous respray, and how much the paint has changed over time. Where a match is critical we test before committing to the repair area.
- How long does a project take?
- It depends entirely on the vehicle, the condition of the metal, parts availability and the scope agreed. A single panel repair and a multi stage restoration are very different commitments. We give you a realistic picture for your specific job rather than a generic turnaround time.
- Can paint correction fix all of my scratches?
- Not all of them. Correction works within the thickness of the existing finish, so swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation and haze usually improve. Scratches that have gone through the finish need refinishing instead. We assess the paint first and tell you what is realistic.
